Frequently Asked Questions

How does LightWeightMD work?

You complete a short medical questionnaire, create your account, choose a plan, and meet a licensed provider on a 30-minute Zoom consultation. If treatment is appropriate, your medication is compounded by our partner pharmacy and shipped to your door.

How much does LightWeightMD cost?

Compounded semaglutide is $200 per month and compounded tirzepatide is $300 per month, with no membership fee. Your first month is $149 for semaglutide or $275 for tirzepatide. That price stays the same at every dose below the top. At 2.5 mg semaglutide it is $230, and at 15 mg tirzepatide it is $340. See the schedule.

What if I need a higher dose?

Your provider adjusts your dose at follow-up visits based on how you respond. Dose changes and titration management are included. Your monthly price does not change as you titrate, with one exception: if your provider prescribes the maximum available dose (2.5mg for semaglutide, 15mg for tirzepatide), your price adjusts to $230/mo or $340/mo respectively. This only applies at the very top of the dose range. Most patients do not reach it. See what you pay at each dose.

How often will I receive a shipment?

Monthly, timed to arrive before your current supply runs out. Shipping is free and tracking is emailed to you.

What if I need to cancel?

You can cancel anytime in your patient portal or by emailing billing@lightweightmd.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing month, and there is no cancellation fee.

Is this real medication?

Yes. Your medication is compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide, prepared for you by Hallandale Pharmacy, a licensed compounding pharmacy. It is not a brand-name product. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not evaluate them for safety, effectiveness, or quality.

How does this compare to brand name drugs?

Brand-name products such as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound® are FDA-approved. Compounded medications are prepared to order by a licensed pharmacy and are not FDA-approved, so they are not the same as, or generic versions of, those products. Compounded options cost less and do not require insurance. You can ask your physician about FDA-approved options at any time.

How much weight will I lose?

Results vary from person to person and depend on your dose, diet, activity, and how your body responds. LightWeightMD does not guarantee any amount of weight loss. Your physician will talk with you about realistic goals.

How soon will I receive my medications?

Once your provider approves treatment and your prescription is sent to Hallandale Pharmacy, your first shipment typically goes out within a few business days.

What is the age range for treatment?

Treatment through LightWeightMD is available to adults ages 18 to 64.

Who is not eligible for treatment?

GLP-1 treatment is not appropriate for everyone. Our screening rules out anyone outside ages 18–64, anyone living outside South Carolina, anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, and anyone with a family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or MEN 2. A history of pancreatitis requires physician review.

Do I need insurance?

No. LightWeightMD does not bill insurance. The monthly price is what you pay, with no insurance approval or prior authorization to chase.
